Singapore offers a year tax exemption for Amnesty

Given the current bleak economic conditions and to help alleviate tightening of credit by allowing residents of Singapore companies to repatriate funds from their overseas investments and operations to meet the financing needs of companies in Singapore, not to attract more income tax, the Finance Minister has proposed a tax year in sending all revenues from foreign resident companies and shareholders of companies resident in Singapore.

The year's tax exemption for shipping income from all source foreign earned outside Singapore or accrued on or before 21 January 2009 which refers to 22do Singapore in January, 2009 until January 21, 2010 (both dates inclusive). Consequently, the necessary conditions to be met by foreign-sourced income to be exempt from tax when the cancellation will arise during this amnesty period year.

Singapore companies that have foreign-sourced income received or accrued on or before 21 January 2009, but kept in foreign accounts in order not attract income tax in Singapore would be able to send their foreign income tax free in Madrid during this amnesty period year.
