Montel Williams Joins Poker Training Network, But Why?

Montel Williams is one of the most trusted TV stars in the US. In fact, businesses pay out more than $1.3 million every week to have this super star market their brand name. He was featured as the host of the Montel Williams show for over 17 years and talked with over 30,000 guests. American families and families all through the globe like and trust him.
Montel Williams recently talked with us about his armed forces history. Most people do not know that he is one of the most decorated, peacetime Naval Lieutenants in history. He told us about how he played a ton of poker during his time in the Navy.
He said that while you are in the military, especially when you are on an aircraft carrier or submarine, you have a lot of free time available with nowhere to go. So, many people play poker.
Montel was very good at the game. He would win a ton of cash. In fact, a couple of his friend owed him poker money. All was just fine until the time when the operations officer called him in and notified him all debts were cancelled. And, that if he sees him playing cards again, he would be court marshaled.
In 2007, Montel Williams entered the WSOP Main Event. On day 1, he was the tournament leader for about ten hours. During that ten hour period, between Fox, ESPN, and WSOP, they received more than 17 million email messages. The email messages repeatedly said, “I didn’t know Montel Williams played poker.”
He realized that a lot of people desired to see him playing and being involved with poker.
He started hosting tournaments at the Golden Nugget and other casinos. He hosted one table Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments with entrance requirements of $1000, $5000, and $10,000. People would attend just to compete with him in these poker tournaments.
A couple years ago, he played on the American team in the Nations Poker Cup held in Whales. He played together with Jamie Gold, Chris Ferguson, Chad Brown, and Robert Williamson.
Recently, Montel Williams joined a new company, Poker Training Network, as a Partner. That means he is a part owner of the business, and is not a TV Celebrity paid to promote. Montel Williams told us about his most recent visit with our recovering soldiers at the Walter Reed Medical Center.
He shared details about how Walter Reed Medical Center introduced poker to help brain trauma soldiers recover. They use it because poker puts the brain back in order analytically. It helps our soldiers do step thinking, re-socialize, and do critical thinking. They play poker every Friday night to rehab our wounded.
When Montel found out more about the way poker is being used, he took action. He set an appointment with the President of the USO, a $290,000,000 non-profit organization. As a matter of fact, the USO is the only foundation approved by the US Congress. The President of the United States is the honorary President of the foundation. He met with the functioning President of the USO to discuss the Poker Training Network and his involvement, well…
…The USO negotiated a contract with Poker Training Network (PTN) to put together the biggest fund raising affair of the century and it’s occurring first on the Internet, concluding live in Washington, DC later this year. This is the largest event the USO has ever put together.
Senators, Congressmen, and other prominent US officials will play in this Charity Affair. This will be a major media event. Poker Training Network and USO banners will be all over the place. The Senior Vice-President for the USO, an Air Force 3 Star General, plans to travel across the country with Monte Williams advertizing this event. This is BIG!
