Tdk Dat160 (Dc-Dat160) Tape Media Technology
Data tape products of TDK are highly durable and resilient. DC-DAT160 by TDK is one of the first tape cartridge of the world that has passed the DAT-MG compliance test. TDK Corporation launched the compact size DC-DAT160 tape cartridge in June, 2007. This TDK DAT-160 storage media achieves capacity of 80 GB (native) & 160GB (compressed). TDK DAT-160 was launched into the market after it had passed the compliance testing of Digital Audio Tape Manufacturers Group. DDS/DAT backup tape format is widely used due to its offering of high capacity and compact size. DDS tape technology is perfect for data backup applications.
Continued expansion in data volume and rising quantity of internal network within the enterprises created the need of storage mediums with larger capacitates. DAT-160 tape format belongs to the sixth generation of the highly reliable and successful DDS data tape technology realizing recording ability of 160 GB with compression. DAT-160 tape format saves additional investment for the organizations as it supports the tape cartridges of DDS4 and DAT-72 therefore providing additional benefit of data continuity.
TDK is acknowledged as manufacturer of durable and efficient DAT 72, DAT160, DDS-4 tape format and other tape products of DDS/DAT. “Super Finavinx” particles are used in the TDK DAT160 tape cartridge and are strapped up by high precision coating method with addition of other innovative technologies that are result of the experience gained by TDK from the former tape format of DDS/DAT. Vast experience of TDK in media manufacturing helped to design the new tough and powerful DAT-160 tape media format. Super Finavinx material used in the TDK DC-DAT160 is highly coercive that provides the tape cartridge exceptional stability and ability to offer incomparable performance. The level of noise is very low as the surface of the DAT160 tape reel is extremely smooth that elevates the output level.
Resistance of TDK DAT-160 is very high against the weather conditions and has the technology to tolerate repeated read/writes. Quality of DAT-160 tape’s edge is improved by the high accurate slitting and therefore stables the characteristics. Ultra fine Super Finavinx particles utilized in TDK DAT160 cartridge ensures exceptional aging stability that makes it ideal for high density recording. The orientation of the metal particles is very uniform along with high density coating. This as a result helps to boost the output level and decreases the error rate. The noise level is low due to the ultra smoothness of the tape’s surface. Vast experience of TDK in ultra fine film coating has been applied to the base film of TDK DC-DAT160 along with the calendaring process that makes its surface exceptionally smooth. In this way the spacing losses are removed that are the major cause of errors. So, high output and low level noise is achieved in TDK DAT160 tape format with steady characteristics. Base film of TDK DAT160 is very tough and robust. A strong magnetic layer is formed by the highly durable TDC (Three Dimensional Compound) binder. Smooth contact of the tape reel with the rotary head is made sure by the high function lubricant. Friction resistance that exists between the transport mechanism of tape drive and the DAT160 tape reel is reduced by this lubricant.
