Definition
Limited supply has been a guiding principle for economic growth since the dawn of trade. Today, with the ability to mass-produce products and maximize services, consumers are increasingly interfacing with and using products from machines. In this world of overcapacity, scarcity is increasing in value. The human touch has been removed from direct contact with many products and services. Think of the endless menus in voice messaging services or the cheap t-shirt that fades and tatters in the matter of weeks. Prized items of quality are those made with care and attention from skilled artisans and craftsman, uniquely measured to the individual and limited in production. These elements are paramount to the scarcity trend and for the purveyors of luxury products and services.

Human Touch—In a world dominated by machines and technology, handcrafted items are a limited resource. Quality and attention to detail are fundamental in handcrafted luxury items.
Custom Made—While we enjoy the comfort of groups and similarities, tailored products / services are a highly desirable. Custom made items speak to our individuality and the unique qualities that makes us special and one-of-a-kind.
Limited Quantities—Opposite of “mass-clusivity,” the limited edition is about coveted objects for a special few to cherish. Just as there are only so many Picassos and Parisian artifacts, so too can luxury companies create a limited product line.

Does the World wide reputation of US Marines set ‘unrealistic expectations’ in the Modern Age?
As I have said earlier my only experience with US Marines was at Holsworthy Army Base in Sydney, Australia. I was left disillusioned by the Marines, I was expecting ‘Devil Dogs’, Pitt Bulls in Uniform…etc… What we witnessed were were Service Men & Women, who looked wet behind the ears! No offence, but we all know about Omaha, Uta beach etc…They not only didn’t live up to the reputation, but were pretty quickly sorted out by Australian Regular Rifflemen, far, far, far behind the Commando Regiment 4RAR or Airborn Regiment 3RAR, as well as the ‘Hard Heads’ in Artillery 8/12 Medium Regiment.
Again, no offence I was expecting the Best of the Best, the Devil Dogs, and what we saw were vitually School boys…..
Q, Is there an Admin as well as Combat ARM to the USMC, could these ‘US Marines’ have simply been AdminMC????
We didn’t do the whole Omaha Beach thing…that was the European Theater…we did the Pacific…Iwo Jima, Tarawa….Don’t be deceived by looks…it is the fighting spirit, superior training, Esprit De Corps, Winning Battles that have made and continue to make the Marines the best fighting units around. We have our specialized units as well…which I am sure are tied up at the moment killing Al Queda. Admin Marines are basic infantrymen 1st..every Marine has been given the basic infantry skills, then they are assigned a military occupational specialty. Some specialize in admin, others specialize in infantry, artillery, recon, sniper…so on and so forth, but they can all, if need be serve in an infantry capacity. I hope this helped. Sergeant, USMC.
