Social Media Changed Partner Portal Strategies
Social Media or the so-called Web 2.0 applications are undoubtedly changing the consumer’s behavior. Channel strategies have to adapt to the dynamic environment created by the Internet’s presence. What are going obsolete? Traditional sales techniques, local sales territories, and named accounts are giving way to virtual customer communities, small but frequent deals, and citing expert opinions. In technology, packaged and complex software needing installations are being replaced by Software as a Service (SaaS), Hardware as a Service (HaaS), cloud computing, and open source technology.
In channel marketing, social media, partner virtual communities, wikis, RSS feeds, Twitter, etc. are in and partner portals, lead generation, and classroom training are heading out. It was only a few year ago when consumers search items on the net to find information on the product but still visit the actual store to buy it. Now, users read blogs, forums, ask friends on their social network and buy the product directly from the website.
Social networking is hardly a new concept. People have been socializing with one another since the Stone Age. What is new, however, is social media. The internet combined with the natural human behavior, socializing, created new forms of communication where people interact in a virtual world. Virtual communities cropped up to provide space to collaborate and communicate. The communities have varied purpose; for business, social, educational activities.
Social Media affects all three level of the channel marketing chain.
Vendors
Vendors can use social media for brand distribution. Every company even the Fortune 500 ones have a Facebook and Twitter account. Each time they have announcements, they can readily change their status and people who are subscribed to them can view it. What’s even more compelling is that not all members in Twitter and Facebook receive the message, only the subscriber which means that the vendors can reach their target audience and not just blindly market their product to everyone.
Channel
Channels can use their blogs, Facebook and Twitter accounts to provide additional service to customers. If the customers have questions about a certain product, they can reply right away at no additional cost. It also promotes development through customer advocacy. In keeping the existing customers happy, the customers in turn, will provide a positive review of the product and extra service included. It’s almost like the traditional word-of-mouth marketing, only it is done virtually.
Customers
The direct beneficiary of social media is no doubt, the customer. Through their expanded network, there are more sources of credible information especially in product reviews. The customer has increased recognition which means the vendor will have a more comprehensive view of the customers’ needs.
The most important benefit that social media created is the ease and efficiency of communication. In every partnership or relationship, be it vendor-partner, partner-customer, or vendor-customer relationship, the most essential aspect is the ability to communicate problems and solutions.
Vendors must find ways to integrate these Web 2.0 technologies in their partner portals, websites, and customer service centers to improve their product development, channel partnership, and branding; thereby, increasing sales and profit.

i am a dad of 4 boys, i love my children, id die for them they are the only thing that matter to me
i am married, to my wife who i feel the same way about.
I know countless men, infact most men are the same, their love their children and wife, true sometimes they dont meet the right wife the first time around, but they are always good to their children.
so why is it, we are all viewed as bad people by the media? i know most women do not feel the way the media does, most women know what i am saying is true. but why is it the media shows us as pedofiles and rapest? true some men do that, but only a small number and it is possible for a women to abuse a child, yet its only ever men who the media blames, same with devorce its always an abusive male partner, yet plently of marriages its the wife to blame!
why does the media view us(men) in such a bad light?
The reason the media takes this approach with men is because the Feminist movement has huge influence within media circles and are creating the myth of “men as monsters” in order to justify the massive amounts of funding they receive from the government to provide support for abused women and their children.
In addition to media bias the Feminist movement also comission “studies” to create favourable statistics to reinforce the myth which they have perpetrated and these “studies” are then presented to government departments amid a cauldron of media created hysteria that force the government to collapse to their demands without ever questioning the validity of the “information” presented to them. One simple, but effective, way that they achieve their distiorted statistics is to ensure that the participents in their “studies” are all women so that the “studies” only reflect effects of an issue as they relate to women and as they are perceived by women. There are countless “studies” comissioned by women for women using only female respondents but there are very few studies regarding the impact of major social issues on men. This is because over the decades women have had so much media attention and as a result of this have generated so much public sympathy that womens groups today receive tens of millions of pounds anually in funding and mens groups are literally ignored.
Another simple tactic of deceit is to totally ignore any statistics that would indicate that men are adversely affected by an issue and concentrate exclusively on the effects of any issue as they relate to women. For instance in a recent radio interview the discussion was on the levels of poverty among women in Ireland. The person being interviewed stated, quite correctly, that there existed an apalling situation where 22.6% of women were living in poverty or at risk of poverty and that this was an absolute disgrace because women earned considerably less than men in many occupations. After checking out the source of the statistics I discovered that yes 22.6% of women were indeed living in or at risk of poverty but I also discovered from the same report that 21.1% of men were also living in poverty or at risk of poverty but this was not used as a comparison because that would have revealed that men were just as prone to poverty as women.
The way women’s groups justify such deceit is to insist that they are there to represent women, not men, but in reality such tactics are intended to portray women as victims and deserving of funding and support, and men as oppressors. Even though men and women may be equally affected by certain issues. I think the philosophy here is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Obviously this is all just propoganda but it is vitally important to the women’s movement that women continue to be viewed as victims in order to continue receiving huge amounts of money from the government. Some women have made very profitable careers out of representing womens issues and I am sure they have no intention of shooting the goose that lays the golden egg. The hypocricy of it all though is that a section of society that was discriminated against for so long in our hustory should itself employ discrimination as a means of justifying the existence of it’s support groups and procuring funding.
All this is only the tip of the proverbial ice-berg. The real damage inflicted by the Feminists with their unscrupulous tactics is in the area of Family Law hence the recurring “all males are paedophiles syndrome” and “only men are violent” myth. Some of the horror stories I am aware of in the area of Family Law would terrify you if you have any emotional bond with your children at all, and the number of men that I am personally aware of that have comitted suicide because of the treatment they received in the Family Law courts would beggar belief. The most tragic of these was a man not 20 mile away from where I live who doused himself with petrol and set fire to himself in his wife’s solicitors office because he was completely denied access to his children and was facing a 3 month wait for a court hearing. The man never once abused his wife in any manner, their seperation was completely amicable and the man absolutely adored his 3 children. The poor man was so distraught at not being able to see his children that it must have affected his mind and he chose the most horrific way to voice his protest and in doing so took his own life.
I think I have made my basic points regarding your question so I will stop there. I apologise unreservedly for the length of my answer but this really is my specialist subject and it is hard to condense the information because it has such far reaching effects. I do appreciate and am well aware that a majority of women are opposed to the tactics I have mentioned in my answer and are supportive and appreciative of the amount of effort and contribution that men make in their relationships and with their families.
