media influence on society

The media spends billions trying to schedule us every day. You may think you are above the white noise of advertising, but not are. With gas prices so high, why have an SUV? Are you really backroading much these days? With so many SUVs on the road, why runs the risk of driving a hybrid energy efficient when you could go over and hardly noticed by the Escalade? This is the influence of advertising and media communication.
Something or someone influenced you to make the purchase, regardless of their rationalization.
Of course, our culture, programs to us throughout our lives until there is a paradigm shift that brings along with it. The women's liberation movement was another rejection of programming the past which, although important, significantly disrupted the family unit in this country, and added a lot of pressure for women. The women were pressured to abandon her role as mother that led to another set of programming as children are beginning to arise in day care rather than housing.
The change traditionalist conservatives of the 40s and 50s to baby boomers of the mid-'60s was enormous. The music, sexuality, questioning authorities said a massive rejection of the programming of the early days. Of course, all they really did was replace the schedule with a new version, more confusing. The utopian ideals of a society free love and peace never came to fruition. Instead, they left behind more than a decade of broken promises and divorced families. However, the music was great.
