media go download problems

If you call them media players, jukeboxes, mp3 applications, music managers, or whatever – we all need a proggy to listen to our digital music, so they decided it was time for the online music blog media player shootout. For the sake of this article I will only speak of players you can get for free and not go into P2P applications.

So with that, lets dive right in. for the money there are only 3 options – Winamp, iTunes or Windows Media Players – but I will talk a little about RealPlayer 10 as well. All these applications share baseline features – Reproduction files of various media, the documentation of digital media, etc. We will focus on things they are different.

Back in the day, we had Winamp, and it was good. Unfortunately the original Nullsoft team has moved at all and instead of the credibility of hackers who used to have Winamp back when Justin Frankel and everyone was at work now is just another corporate media player with a cloudy future.

Winamp lost much of the momentum it had when was released a (very) bad Winamp3 – but with the release of Winamp5 seem to be back on the track – it is usable, responsive, and has lots of plugins and skins created for she.

The biggest problem is that for all of its features is not much, if any, better than the two dominant media players are linked to the successful iTunes music store and WMP. You also have to pay $ 14.95 for the Pro version that add features that iTunes and WMP included by free. One benefit of using Winamp is the ability to tune all the cool shoutcast radio stations.

iTunes is, of course, is the front end of digital jukebox for iPod and the iTunes music store from Apple Computer. The iTunes music store was the first to receive compensation for music downloads digital right and still has the largest legal download catalog on the iTunes jukebox network giving a strong advantage.

If you are using a Mac, then it is a no-brainer – you must use iTunes as a media player, but even if you are using Windows iTunes offers an attractive alternative. The iTunes store is better (in my humble opinion) to Windows Media-based stores such as Napster and Apple's legendary ease of use iTunes full effect causes a large base of Windows Jukebox. It is worth mentioning the codec without Apple lost that lets you rip CDs to AAC format that sounds as good as the CD itself to our ears. On the negative side, the iTunes jukebox is heavy moderately powered PC, compared to Winamp or WMP. It runs a bit slower, it seems that the use of more resources, etc.

Last (self, except for RealPlayer …) from Windows Media Player 10 is one of the best pieces of software from Microsoft and some much better than the last generation of MS media player. The jukebox itself is full of features such as its ability to monitor changes in your digital media files and update itself easily and burn timing, qualifications, and auto tag features are all nice.

One of the changes in the V.10 is the ability to extract the files if the format and with (or without) the DRM your choice. You also have the ability to listen to Internet radio streams with WMP, and although they tend to be more entrepreneurial then hip shoutcast radio you can still find good music. WMP also has a lossless ripping CD's, but was less impressed with the results then went with apples no data loss.

And finally there is RealPlayer. The version of RealPlayer 10 is better than before but that does not say much in my humble opinion. Still done charge of the file formats by default, force is recorded, it runs in the background (aa calling home?) unless you can find the setting to tell not a – all problems that have ever done. I say be as far as Real as possible, even if you can use "Harmony" to use your iPod to store real. While I may be more critical of the jukebox Real – I think there are other alternatives that are less intrusive and have better feature sets.

All in all I think that either iTunes or WMP is a solid choice and by far the best media players available. Winamp is a well too as long as you do not need copy music or record a new CD – but it is worth downloading and installing just to listen to Shoutcast stations occasionally. Personally I use WMP and iTunes at work at home, so that what is worthwhile. I think I like WMP a little better, but not so much that you take the time to change my iTunes set up at home.
