About Trachinger Robert (b. 1923, New York, NY)

A television pioneer, Robert Trachinger joined WTMJ-TV, Milwaukee / Wisconsin

in 1948 as a cameraman and video engineer operations. In 1950, the American

Broadcasting company hired as a cameraman in Hollywood moving towards a 35 year old

mandate. He was technical director on several of the first network from coast to coast

sample. When he was promoted to technical director of broadcasting in 1958, worked side by

side with Roone Arledge, president of ABC-TV Sports Development and

revolutionary development of innovative concepts for TV sports

production. In 1964, he has been named director of program development and operations

at ABC Sports in New York. As such, he was involved in production,

development and design of many programs, including "Athlete of America. "It

When he retired from ABC-TV after 35 years, Robert Trachinger received one year

Fulbright Award as a professor at the Gutenberg University, Institut für

Publizistik in Mainz / Germany, 1985-86. Professor Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann and

Professor Hans Mathias Kepplinger-hosted. Teaching German students

media center pc: Windows or Ubuntu?

I build a media center PC for my living room above. I have a PC with small form factor with a P4 2.8 GHz, 1.5 GB PC3200 DDR RAM, 250 GB hard drive, DVD burner and a Hauppauge USB TV tuner. I do not need high definition I am staying with my cable DVR. The question is: Should I use Windows XP (I have a coa the case) or Ubuntu and open source software, such as the myth of television? Any suggestions will be Anyone with experience with the software. The main use of this PC will be as a DVR and DVD player. Vista is out and I want fast performance with this system also. Thank you.
