I also installed flip4mac but it also has not worked =(
There is no current version of Windows Media Player that works on MacOs X. Microsoft discontinued it. Just do a Google for “flip4mac” and install it. It automatically changes Windows media files so they play in Quicktime. It works great. There is also a version of Microsoft’s Silverlight which you can download and install. It plays streaming audio & video from sites like MLB and also works well.
